Today, I want to touch on an article I found out about on an old podcast from Zach-Even-Esh. I implore you to read my ideas about a few points given in the article, but I recommend overall that you check out both links above (one being the article, and the other being the podcast I heard it from). I wish people would understand that being tough, and putting hard work in is the only way to truly reach your goals. It’s pathetic that our society is all about fast money and fast results, leaving our lives to be run by convenience. The truth is that myths such as “6 Pack Abs in 2 Weeks” and those fad diets won’t help you reach your fitness  goals. It’s the same way the convenience of a Big Mac might be lead us to avoid taking the time to cook a healthier meal.

  1. Accept death with open arms

Don’t fear death, because were all heading there. Understanding that it’s not something to fear is key to your ability to push yourself. But in all cases, when
death is close in our lives from people passing away or getting into
accident, this changes how we live. It creates a sense of urgency, a sense of being in the present, a sense of living in the moment and conquering what needs to be done.

  1. Physical toughness and mental toughness are one in the same.

This is a great point that talk about. In my mind, the preparation for any sport through physical training also makes a person mentally strong. I think back to when I started to wrestle. Our coach had special practices called black flags, which aimed to train us mentally by breaking our body’s down physically. When your body and mind are put under a tremendous amount of stress, you are forced to adapt and mold around your given task.

  1. Do what can’t be done

JFK said he would put a man on the moon, an almost impossible task. Some called him ambitious, yet crazy. And now everyone knows who Neil Armstrong is. Do not put limitations on yourself, your dreams, or any other objects that bring happiness to your life. And if someone says it can’t ever be done, go ahead and prove them wrong.

  1. Your fate is sealed.

Understand that that things happen for a reason. Basically I see this as understanding that you cannot worry or focus on things you can’t control.

  1. Hard climates make hard men.

That harder the conditions (the struggle) put on individuals, the tougher it’ll make them. Examples of this are “rags to riches” stories we hear about. Here in the United States, the tough situations life throws at us creates an unstoppable drive to overcome it.

  1. Simplify

To make efficient decisions, focus on the small task ahead of you and simplifying the problem so you can quickly move on, overcome and adapted to the situation.  An example of me in my life where I simplify is when I have homework for all my classes and I pick one class to work on first. This is so I don’t worry about the big picture but focus on small tasks to get the larger one accomplished.
