9/15/15 There Is No Tomorrow (Mindset)

I realized after the first week of school that procrastination is all around me at my school from the academics to the athletes.  I was inspired by seeing Zach Even-Esh’s Instagram post about the Rocky III where Rocky lost motivation to fight Clubber Lang. Apollo Creed yells at rocky.” There is no TOMORROW!”, to snap Rocky back into some hardcore training.  I see so many people at my school put things off for ‘tomorrow’. The problem is that they decide they don’t have the time or that tomorrow is too late. I figured out that you have to sacrifice today for tomorrow’s betterment. I figured out that if I tell myself it’s okay to quit or to procrastinate my school work another day, I will always be able to rationalize anything I need a scape goat for. My mindset is, “I must, I will and of understanding that quitting or giving up is not an option. My goal is to create a Spartan mindset for myself  like I’ve read in the Book Spartan Up. The understanding that life will be difficult but still going to wake up ruck up and do work.
Tips for Creating this Mindset:
Goals– Figure out what’s important in your life.
Stay Focus– You need to learn how to cut out all the negative things that impact your life. This can range from hanging around the wrong crowd to wasting time watching Netflix. Cut down on stimuli that would distract you.
Stay Balanced– Always understand that life is about balance. This means you should learn to be willing to sacrifice your important passions for family time or social events. Time is limited, but it’s clear that family and friends can come first in some situations.
Never Give Up– Life’s going to get tough, there’s no denying it. Sometimes you might feel like giving up. When I get down on myself I look back on how far I have come and think about why I do what I do.rocky
